Gillian Wearing

Performance/masquerade in the sense that Wearing mimics each member of her family including her younger self and copies the stance/clothes etc of the original photography.

Martin Parr

Martin Parr looks at the banality of everyday life and uses the photograph to document these moments yet making them interesting, taking these moments out of time invites us to explore these moments in more detail then we originally would.

Cindy Sherman

Looking at Cindy Sherman's work as her work revolves around our perceptions of feminity and the Hollywood theories of femninity and how they are portrayed in film.
Sherman's work is very performative with 'self as subject' which is an aspect i use within my own work.

DECASIA a Film by Bill Morrison

'DECASIA' by Bill Morrison is a film created by found film footage, it has eroded and began to decay over time on top of this is the eerie soundtrack which in itself lends it self to the notion of destruction, the sound becomes almost unbearable as the flow of images continue to appear front of our eyes. There is also the appearance that Morrison has managed to save these images from further destruction through technological advancements and the invention of DVD, although not the original image a copy of the image has been saved/stored, this girl will 'live forever on film'.

1 week project continued...

one idea to display this work was to make a light box and have the negatives in a black frame setting, also have a few of the prints A3 size? on the wall next to the light box, time restrictions might make this difficult as its only 1 week project

These are all the images/thumbnails and full strip of negative of 35mm 1so200 Tesco colour film.

more images scanned in at 300dpi

Negatives

These negatives are reminisent of medical biopsies, the look like microscopic organisms or blood cultures./

The negatives were left for one day, then the film was washed with water to remove grit and dirt, etc (ensuring still no light was affecting the film) then the film was developed through the usual c41 processor.

Thursday 18th September 2008 DEVELOPED NEGS.

First example of the scanned negative which had been buried in the earth for 1 day (24hours).

Billy Childish: Pinhole Photography

Portrait of Billy Childish:
There is something almost ethereal about the photograph and pinhole photography.
